FAQ
Does Switch 2 work with my old microSD card?
No. Switch 2 only accepts microSD Express cards. Regular microSD / microSDHC / microSDXC cards from the original Switch do not work for game storage.
How much of the 256GB is actually usable?
About 228GB. The system software reserves the rest. This planner uses 228GB as the baseline and says so everywhere.
Are the game sizes exact?
No, they are approximate, taken from public eShop listings and media file-size roundups. Updates and DLC can change them. Treat the total as a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
Which card size should most people buy?
For most players a 256GB microSD Express card is the sweet spot. Heavy digital buyers with 10+ big games should look at 512GB or 1TB.
